Hello, as you see above I am Jasper Nelson. I am a science teacher that has been working in the Juneau School District going on five years. I teach any and all science curriculum at YDHS, which includes Biology, Physical Science, Outdoor Science, Earth Science, Marine Biology, Forensic Science and a few more in between there.

I was born and raised in Alaska just south of here on Prince of Wales Island, more specifically Craig. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Biology from University of Alaska Southeast Juneau, and my MAT shortly after that. I have worked in a large variety of jobs throughout my life, but none have ever given me the same level of satisfaction that teaching does.

I enjoy working at YDHS and helping students that need more individualized instruction. The best part of working here is we get a large variety of students, many of them just wanting to recover their credits and head back to their original schools. It is my goal to make them feel so welcome they never want to leave. When you or your kiddos come to our school please swing by my room and say hi. Just please don’t call me Mr. Nelson. Just Jasper will do.
